ITHACA's acclaimed debut full-length The Language of Injury received support from Pitchfork, BBC R1, Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, Revolver, Decibel magazines and more, fast becoming UK heavy music's new band of 2019.

Champions of diversity, equal representation, anti-fascism and anti-sexism, ITHACA are fast providing a vital new voice in hardcore, a voice which will be heard at Boomtown Fair and ArcTanGent festivals this summer, and decimated their sold-out album release show at London's The Old Blue Last.

Formed out of a mutual love of metallic hardcore but despair at its lack of ambition, ITHACA draw influence from everything from Southern doom to 90's math rock, as well as the untethered savagery of early Poison The Well and melodious battery of Oathbreaker.

The result is crushing grooves and shrieking guitar squalls that give way to haunting melodic passages and desolate reprieves. The debut album will be the band's most ambitious and emotionally raw material to date, following from their 2015 Trespassers EP (COF Records/Soaked in Torment).

Progressive guitar virtuoso Stephen Taranto announces debut album Permanence and streams new single 'Pixel Heart: Verdant'.

Check out 'Pixel Heart: Verdant' here:

Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Stephen Taranto gained notoriety amongst his peers as a member of the fast-paced instrumental metal act The Helix Nebula and now aims to push the envelope even further with his own brand of genre-warping music in a new solo project.

Stephen has also been announced as the first guitarist endorsed by Abasi Concepts, the exclusive new guitar company founded by guitar mastermind Tosin Abasi of Animals as Leaders.

Permanence is a masterful union of riff-driven progressive metal fused with the orchestration of video game and film scores. The music guides the listener on a mythical pilgrimage where the narrative is expressed through melody, not words, and features all the hallmarks of a compelling fantasy novella. Featuring the production talent and bass guitar skills of Simon Grove (Plini, Intervals, The Helix Nebula) and artwork from his brother Tim Grove (Intervals, Tash Sultana), Permanence promises to be one of the most impressive debuts of 2019.

Stephen has contributed to many notable records (Plini, Sithu Aye, Widek) while also establishing a profile as a touring musician for James Norbert Ivanyi and I Built The Sky. He has a raplidly growing audience on social media that follows his a video journal encompassing tablature, technique and theory. Stephen’s content provides evidence of an unrelenting passion and determination and has earned him praise from names such as Dweezil Zappa, Tosin Abasi and Jeff Loomis. In 2019, he was invited to the prestigious NAMM event in Los Angeles where his demonstrations gained widespread acclaim and landed him an endorsement with Abasi Concepts.

Stephen comments on Permanence"I really wanted to make an exciting record that will hopefully take you on a wild journey. My goal was to make an EP that is equal parts intense as it is serene, but ultimately I wanted to create a layered and memorable collection of songs that listeners would be delighted in re-visiting time and time again. Permanence" offers a little something for everyone"

Being recognised as a talent worthy of an endorsement from Abasi Concepts is a huge achievement and something that Stephen doesn't take lightly. He continues: "I'm incredibly thrilled and greatful to be a part of the Abasi Concepts family. I'm so excited to be a part of a such a forward-thinking and innovative company from guys I genuinely look up to and happily consider my friends. I cannot wait for what's in store for 2019 and beyond!"

Whether it’s a spectacle of his precision guitar playing or his definitive portrayal of contemporary progressive metal, Stephen is rapidly asserting himself as a musician impossible to overlook.

FURY announce new album Failed Entertainment and unveil lead single

FURY announce new album Failed Entertainment and unveil lead single

Fast-rising Californian hardcore band FURY announce their anxiously awaited sophomore album, Failed Entertainment, coming 3rd May via Run For Cover Records - their first release since signing to the label last year.

The band have also released 'Angels Over Berlin', the first single from the album. Check it out here:

This is also the band's first release since touring the UK with Turnstile.

Forming in 2014, FURY have established themselves quickly. They built on the melodic legacy of Orange County by way of heavy, rhythmic, start-stop guitars and frontman Jeremy Stith's wordy, referential and poetic lyrics. The album's lead single,  'Angels Over Berlin', "sums up what love and being a human means to me," Stith explains. "The give and take, the power to let go of control, the faith and trust it takes to be vulnerable and open to another person's view as well as open to the inevitable part of love which is grief. Not just romantic relationships, but all relationships; even the one you have with yourself."

Failed Entertainment is FURY's take on the human experience, an attempt to describe every person's life and how it interacts with others through unmatched highs, desperate lows and mundane middles. As with their previous records, Failed Entertainment was recorded by Colin Knight and their own guitarist Madison Woodward at Paradise Records, in Anaheim, CA. This time, the band sought new surroundings and outside expertise, collaborating with engineerAndrew Oswald at Secret Bathroom Studios, mixing engineer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden) and Parquet Courts' Andrew Savage. The new batch of songs shows growth in all directions: the slow parts more brooding, the melodies catchier, the lyrics out even further on the limb. From the hammer-ons at the beginning of 'Angels Over Berlin' to the tambourine on "Crazy Horses Run Free".

In 2015, FURY released a demo on D.C.'s Mosher Delight Records and the Kingdom Come EP on Boston's Triple B Records in the same calendar year. Then, in 2016, came their debut LP on Triple B Records, Paramount. The debut full-length was met with respect from the hardcore community and praise from outsider critics, earning them support slots on tours with the likes of Power Trip, Sheer Mag, Turnstile and tours around the world including two in the UK in just a quick couple of years.

On Failed Entertainment, the band document the work, both personal and creative, undertaken since the release of Paramount, a period of time marked by as many difficulties as successes. Stith said, "I've asked myself 'Why have I done this?' and 'Why do I continue to do this?' more times in the last two years than the rest of my life combined." Those eternal, existential questions form the thematic foundation of the new songs, which look past the superficial concerns about status and popularity that preoccupy so many musicians, focusing instead on life's inevitable, inescapable problems and the ways in which they can be compounded by the banal realities of art-making - the isolation of being on tour, the pressure of being expected to somehow transform that universal angst into nice, catchy songs that provide simple lessons.

Though the idea that the human experience is something that can be understood and labelled is either right on the nose or too grandiose. But to Stith, the goal was to fit every last drop of humanity in between the grooves of the record, and that's where the success and failure of this entertainment lies. "I'll never be able to communicate every single thought and feeling," says Stith, "a Failed Entertainment."

FURY have confirmed SXSW and a short West Coast tour with Gorilla Biscuits next month. See below for a list of dates and for more details on Failed Entertainment or to pre-order, go here.

Spokane, USA metal band ENTERPRISE EARTH have released a another music video for a new track called 'Sleep Is For The Dead' today exclusively via Kerrang! Magazine.
“‘Sleep Is For The Dead’ is about digging deep inside myself when the world turns it’s back on me,” says vocalist Dan Watson“It’s about peeling off the exterior shell that our society plastered on the outside and awakening the true inner version of myself rather than suppress it to fit into the cookie cutter mould that society tries to pressure us to fit into. Venezuelan musical innovator FELIX MARTIN announces new album and releases new video

Venezuelan musical innovator FELIX MARTIN announces new album and releases new video

Venezuelan-born progressive music innovator FELIX MARTIN has announced the release of new album Caracas on 12th April and unveiled the first video from the LP.

FELIX MARTIN is an ambidextrous Venezuelan musician pioneering a new style of playing the electric guitar. With his self-designed 14 and 16-string guitars, Felix emulates playing two instruments as if they were one, creating a completely new sound of his own.

Caracas is a compilation of traditional Venezuelan songs and styles, fused with Felix’s unique blend of progressive metal and Latin music. A kaleidoscope of musical ideas and concepts delivered with an instrumental approach, Felix and his band promise to achieve even greater notoriety in the progressive music community with this stunning release.

On the musical inspiration behind Caracas, Felix commented: "There are many sounds in Venezuelan / Latin music that can be easily fit into the progressive metal world, both styles make a lot of sense together. Learning traditional songs as a teenager taught me how to play the guitar using the tapping technique, so I wanted to go back to my roots and transform these songs into my current musical style.

Caracas reflects on Venezuelan music, culture and the protests against the governing dictatorship. Now based in Los Angeles, FELIX MARTIN is still an active protester against the Venezuelan government and uses progressive music as his form of expression.

Felix continues: "I started making this album in 2017 during the bloody protests in Venezuela. After I attended the protests and started touring again, I wanted to make something valuable to give my people hope, and export our great music for people who are not familiar with Latin music."

Musicians featured on Caracas are Victor Carracedo on drums and Javier Sepulveda on bass, and it was mixed and mastered by Adam Bentley of Arch Echo. All Berklee graduates including Felix, these top musicians challenge the concepts and ideas of traditional music as they continue to blur the defined genre lines.
