BATUSHKA announce album details and release single via Metal Blade Records

Emerging from the shadows of eastern Poland back in 2015, black metal band BATUSHKA have established themselves as one of the modern era’s most powerful and evocative bands. Harnessing the fire and fury of arcane black metal and channelling it through the reverberant grandeur of ancient rituals of worship, the band’s debut album Litourgiya stood apart from the extreme metal hordes: a monument to originality, depth and dark mysticism that swiftly cast its spell over the metal underground and beyond.

The band will release its sophomore album Hospodi through Metal Blade Records on 12th July. The album is available for pre-order here:

The band have shared the first new track and video for 'Polunoszcznica.” Listen and watch here:

Named after an Old Church Slavonic word for “God,” Hospodi enhances all the unique qualities that made the band such an instant phenomenon, while offering an entirely distinct and fresh sensory experience. The album boasts the most ferocious and bewitching songs the band have penned to date — along with a newfound sense of rock swagger.

Fiercely conceived and audaciously executed, Hospodi takes the epoch-shattering essence of BATUSHKA’s debut to a new level of idiosyncratic intensity. From the mesmerising chants of the opening 'Wozglas' to the blazing bombast of 'Dziewiatyj Czas' and the pulsing, dark rock melodrama of 'Wieczernia,' this is an album full of wildly dynamic, divergent moments, wherein the band’s otherworldly, inspirational fervour meets the whip-crack precision of 21st century brutality. Perhaps most importantly, BATUSHKA’s deft conjuring of religion’s synaptic shock ‘n’ awe looms large over every scything riff and bellicose scream. By the time fans reach the overpowering climax of the closing 'Liturgiya', a true Damascene conversion is practically guaranteed.

“The whole album is a concept based on the Liturgy of Death, the prayers for the dead, and Orthodox funeral rites and dirges,” said the band. “It’s all about a ritual that involves the dead and the mourners. We also used a lot of old folk songs and elegies from our homeland. These are sung during the wake, around the casket, in the deceased person’s home. Nowadays only a few older people know them and still sing them accordingly in our region. We decided to cherish that tradition and I’m glad that with our album these songs and rites will survive.”

BATUSHKA will make one very special live appearance in the UK at Download Festival on Saturday 15th June. Worldwide headline tour announcements to follow.

Hospodi will be available in several configurations, listed below.

Norwegian powerpop quartet BEACHHEADS release new single

Norwegian powerpop quartet BEACHHEADS release new single

Norwegian powerpop quartet BEACHHEADS are back with new single 'Death of a Nation'.

First premiered via Stereogum, you can now listen to 'Death of a Nation' on all streaming services.

An offshoot from renowned metal band KvelertakBEACHHEADS received worldwide acclaim with their 2017 self-titled debut, from Kerrang!, Rolling Stone, Stereogum, and more.

Reminiscent at times of Hüsker DüIdles and The Marked Men, the single is a political, anti-fascist anthem. In the words of singer and lyricist Børild Haughom the song is “looking askance at the televised war". Despite the serious lyrical content the music is highly addictive and upbeat - a nod to surf rock and modern day post-punk.

The track is taken from the band's forthcoming second LP - more news on this coming soon.

“...a layered, intricate, downright beautiful progressive-rock opus…” -- Kerrang!

US progressive sludge metal titans LORD DYING have unveiled their stunning new video for 'Nearing The End Of The Curling Worm.'

Check out 'Nearing The End Of The Curling Worm' here:
The track is taken from the band’s Mysterium Tremendum full-length, released late last month via Entertainment One (eOne).

Filmed by Nesto [], the consuming, near-six-minute clip fuses performance footage with kaleidoscopic, often unsettling dreamscape imagery perfectly capturing the track’s monolithic heaviness both in sound and theme.
LORD DYING’s Mysterium Tremendum was recorded at Los Angeles’ West Valley Recording Studios in August of 2018 with producer Mike Plotnikoff (Fear Factory, In Flames), mastered by Howie Weinberg (Slayer, Nirvana, Pantera, Red Hot Chili Peppers), and boasts the arresting planetary landscape-inspired cover art of Steve R. Dodd. A colossal, riff-heavy concept album borne out of personal sorrow, Mysterium Tremendum delivers eleven heaving tracks that examine death and what may or may not lie beyond.
Stream Mysterium Tremendum in its entirety here:
Mysterium Tremendum is available on CD, 2xLP, and digital formats. For ordering options go to
LORD DYING will kick off a North American headline tour in support of Mysterium Tremendumon 8th May in Seattle, Washington. Support will be provided by psychedelic doom duo Year Of The Cobra.

Welsh rock trio JUNIOR announce debut LP and stream new single

Welsh rock trio JUNIOR announce debut LP and stream new single

Welsh rock band JUNIOR are proud to announce their highly-anticipated debut full-length, Beautiful Life, to be released 2nd August.

The band have also streamed their first single from the record, 'Playing The Part'.

Stream link:
And watch the video here:

Pre-order the album:

In the band's own words, 'Playing The Part' is "a reminder to always be yourself, to feel comfortable in your own skin, and to not worry what other people think of you. Life’s beautiful so let’s celebrate it... This song is about being a pair of open arms to a person who doesn’t feel like they belong; to show them it’s ok to be yourself and they should celebrate their individuality."

The theme of positivity and self-expression underpins JUNIOR's first album and is key to the band's own identity. The band's drummer Si Martin is known for running mental health non-profit Heads Above The Waves, which raises awareness of depression and self-harm in young people.

As the band comment: “The theme of Beautiful Life is about being happy with being yourself and finding beauty in the little things. This is our debut album, and we really wanted to push the boat out in terms of musical ideas and recording. This album is the result of two years of songwriting, recorded across three studios, involving pianos, kids choirs, seven string guitars and all sorts of things that you wouldn’t hear on your average ‘pop punk’ album. In fact, we’ve always strived to be more than just a “pop punk band” and this album is gonna be the thing that cements that in everyone’s minds. We’re super proud of this record and we can’t wait for you to hear it. And for this to be the thing that finally gets us to headline Wembley.”

Beyond this, JUNIOR's vocalist/bassist is well-known WWE wrestler Mark Andrews who performs weekly on NXT, 205 Live and NXT UK to an audience of millions. Guitarist and co-vocalist Matt Attard writes theme tunes for wrestlers, balancing his time against JUNIOR's increasingly busy schedule.

The band's vital message does not detract from the fact that JUNIOR are, above all else, a fun band. The highly versatile and impressively mature debut brings to mind elements of Blink-182Biffy Clyro, and Jimmy Eat World, breaking beyond anthemic pop-punk tropes to create a highly irresistible first offering to all fans of modern rock.

In their short history, JUNIOR have already played Download Festival, toured Canada, headlined London's The Dome and received significant support from Rock Sound, Kerrang!, Alt Press and many more.

With plenty of exciting updates to come the future will belong to JUNIOR.

The band will do a series of US headline record release shows in June and will announce more tour dates soon.

Ruben (guitars) states: “We simply felt it was time for a change. This new album is definitely a huge statement for us. It was time to reinvent ourselves and get back to our roots - pure heavy fucking metal! The energy of this album takes us back to our first two, but with much more maturity.

"We worked for two months with Christopher Mora (producer) and our younger brother, Thomas Alvarez (co-producer). They are both amazing songwriters and were able to help us create fresh and infectious ideas. The four of us worked together to create a fresh, raw and energetic sound. We took influences from some of the greatest metal bands of all-time (Pantera, Metallica, etc.), in order to fill a void that many people are craving and need. Once we finished tracking and putting the final touches we realized we created an album that would change everything for us. This is what everyone has been waiting for: no gimmicks and just straight in your face metal!”

The release of Aokigahara resulted in a swathe of media attention, with Metal Hammer magazine touting them as the band to 'transcend the swarm of killer UK debuts', describing the album as 'Gojira and Meshuggah brawling in a dinosaur paddock' and 'ballsy, catchy metal that will have fans of everyone from Tesseract to Slipknot grinning ear-to ear and hurtling to the nearest pit'.
