Anuryzm announce new video for Breaking the Ballot

Tuesday 7th August, 2012

Dubai based progressive metallers ANURYZM, have released a live montage video for their single, 'Breaking the Ballot', which is taken from their debut album, 'Worm's Eye View'.

Singer Nadeem Bibby comments on the video: "Breaking The Ballot is about saying enough is enough. We feel that for some time now things have been frustratingly morbid and dead-end. The song is meant to inspire people to wake up and instigate change for the better even if just for once in their lives." We wanted to do a video that looked and felt different than the norm but had that "on the road" vibe to it so that our fans and viewers could see the real side of what it means to be in Anuryzm. The result we feel is something very honest and not exaggerated."

ANURYZM's debut album 'Worm's Eye View' was released by Melodic Revolution Records on July 17th and over the course of 8 tracks, is a heart-stirring journey that seamlessly blends metal, progressive, and jazz leanings into an ever-changing musical illustration. Featuring guest appearances from Martin Lopez (Soen, Opeth, Amon Amarth), jazz bassist Rami Lakkis and synth player Uri Dijk (Textures, Ethereal), the album was produced by John Bakhos & Miltiadis Kyvernitis at MNK studios and mixed, mastered by Miltiadis Kyvernitis. Drums were recorded by Martin Lopez in Sweden.

Worm's Eye View is out now and is available via Melodic Revolution Records or from all good online retailers.

Manchester’s “freight train” rockers JERZEY STREET BAND give away new track to celebrate US album release

Friday 27th July, 2012

Mancunian americana rockers Jerzey Street Band are taking their sound back to the homeland with the US release of their striking Breaking Radio Silence album, and to celebrate, they are giving away a download the toe-tapping opening track “Pale Blue River”, which can be downloaded here:
http://download.themusebox.net/jerzey_street_band/pale_blue_river.mp3

Channelling tinges of Tom Petty during his Mudcrutch days, “Pale Blue River” seamlessly straddles the line between melancholy and uplifting:
“… I don’t ever feel at home, thought this world was mine to roam.”/ “We all shiver to the bone, gotta make it on your own” / “We’re all crazy too.”
The song has a heartening familiarity about it, as if it might be an Eagles song you heard at a party that one time.

Having already gained support from key press US, with Blurt magazine stating they are “kickass pub-rockers from Manchester, England”, Jerzey Street Band are right at home in the States. Their Americana anthems conjure images of convertible top-down car rides, lost loves, whilst retaining a uniquely British rock sound.

Jerzey Street Band’s tasteful use of pedal steel guitar, dobro and harmonica on Breaking Radio Silence truly raises the bar for British rock music, earning them the support of Rock N Reel and Maverick Magazine and BBC Radio 2's Bob Harris to name a few. It’s a myriad of traditional sounds played with refreshing style; a must hear for fans of Counting Crows, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty.

Breaking Radio Silence is currently available in Europe and is released in the US on September 18, 2012.

Sumerian's progressive metal visionaries THE FACELESS return with their highly ambitous third album ‘Autotheism’

Monday 23rd July, 2012

Californian progressive metal visionaries THE FACELESS return with their hugely anticipated third album, ‘Autotheism’, out 13 August on Sumerian Records.

Guitarist and band leader Michael Keene and drummer Lyle Cooper are joined by new recruits Geoffrey Ficco (vocals), Evan Brewer (bass) and Wes Hauch (guitar), to deliver the band’s most musical and progressive record to date. It’s a fast, technical and blistering record as a FACELESS record should be, but is much more expressive, moody and expansive than ever before. Speed picking, flying double bass and skin melting guitar solos are aplenty, however a greater emphasis on clean vocals, big harmonies, moody passages and the use of keyboards, synth guitars, sequenced segments and even saxophone add a whole new dimension to the sound.

As a semi-conceptual record, 'Autotheism' follows a man's journey of self discovery and transformation into the all powerful God of his reality. It starts with his realisation of the power he possesses and moves through every step of an ever-evolving reality that the future may have in store.

Keene states: “I have never been prouder of any musical offering I have ever created. This record is both punishing and diverse. It covers so much ground musically, while retaining a clear focus. The time spent, plus the new personnel and the life experience of several years have culminated in this records' sound and created something that surpassed my original vision of what it would be. I think that listeners will find Autotheism to be both more adventurous and daring, as well as more memorable and captivating than ever before.”

In a nutshell: A thought provoking roller coaster with the occasional sledge hammer to the skull.

Following the Summer Slaughter tour across the USA with Cannibal Corpse and Between The Buried and Me, THE FACELESS will be touring the rest of the world extensively, and armed with this stunning new album, will prove that they are truly a band that can redefine a genre as their musical vision adheres to no boundaries.

Cambridgeshire melodic rockers The First release new single and play London showcase on 14 August

Wednesday 11th July, 2012

The First return with brand new single “Take It Back”, a high energy hard rocking anthem with massive hooks and grooves aplenty, and are set to explode back on the scene with their refreshingly powerful sound once again. click here to check out the teaser!

The Cambridgeshire melodic rockers have spent this year hard at work writing their follow up to the phenomenal 2010 debut album, ‘Swimming With Sharks’, and will be showcasing their new material at a one off show Upstairs at The Garage on the 14 August.

Guitarist Tim Crane comments: "We’ve really stepped up our game in terms of song writing. The lyrics are deeper, the riffs are punchier and we’ve added whole new dimension to our songs with four of us now pitching in on vocals.” Although the song writing has matured, the band’s sound has not softened in anyway. In fact, it’s got heavier. Tim continues: “Our fans can expect a much heavier next album from us. We’ve seen too many bands go for a softer approach recently, which is great if it works for them, but with the energy and intensity we bring to our live shows we want to deliver a blinder of an album which will capture that atmosphere on record."

‘Swimming With Sharks’ was met with huge critical acclaim gaining the band strong support from the likes of Rock Sound, Ourzone and Big Cheese, with the latter stating that the band are "gearing up to take pole position on the pop rock scene". Coupled with music videos regularly making the Scuzz charts and Kerrang TV playlists, an electrifying buzz surrounded The First by the end of last year. Having also made fans of their peers, ‘Swimming With Sharks’ features guest appearances from Deaf Havana’s James Veck-Gilodi and While She Sleeps’ Lawrence Taylor and Mat Welsh.

The First have toured tirelessly since 2010 with the likes of Deaf Havana, Futures, Blessed By a Broken Heart, Not Advised, Don Broco and Lower Than Atlantis, and appeared at last year’s Hevy festival, earning their rep for a hugely energetic live show along the way. Upon completion of their sophomore record, the band plan to hit the road with full force later this year.

“Take It Back” is released via Another. on 13 August 2012.
