American Progressive Metallers SLEEPERS AWAKE Announce New Album

Wednesday 24th April, 2013

Hailing from Columbus, Ohio, progressive protagonists Sleepers Awake are the latest band to fly a fiery flag for originality, invention and unstoppable creative urges, with the release of their sophomore album Transcension, on 17th June 2013
A mind-bending and magnificent concept piece that tells the tale of ‘The Augur’ and his struggle with higher forces that veers off through magical worlds full of fantastic creatures and surreal imagery,  the album is a work of creative intelligence and bravery.  Combining elements of classic rock, sludge metal and even left-field art rock and ambience, the result is a devastating but irresistible hybrid that fans of thought-provoking and soulful heavy music will find impossible to ignore.

“If there is one particular overarching philosophy that guides Sleepers Awake, it is that music is primarily a vehicle to emote and provoke thought,” says drummer Christopher Burnsides. “All of these different elements weave around a central desire to write epic tunes. We are not the soundtrack for umbrella drinks and palm trees. We seek to express a desperation that we all share. It’s hard to articulate, but ideally our music is going to hit you in the gut and latch on to you, inviting you in for more careful scrutiny. We hope that we leave people feeling the sort of longing that we try to ameliorate by writing music.  We want to dump our issues onto the world.  And while writing is catharsis, performance is celebration! We also very much enjoy visiting new places and people and drinking lots of shitty beer!”

Ahead of the album release, the band have made the track “The Fulcrum” available to stream as a preview, which you can check out here: http://sleepersawake.bandcamp.com/track/the-fulcrum-2

Thursday 18th April, 2013

Belgian five-piece NOW, VOYAGER will release their much anticipated new single “Where We’ll Start” on 20 May, which is taken from their forthcoming EP, due for release this summer.

Taking elements of hardcore, math-metal, ambient electronica and splicing them with buckets of quirky charisma, NOW, VOYAGER’s musical creation has caused some serious excitement in their homeland and it’s quickly spreading throughout the rest of Europe.

To get a feel for what the band are about, check out the track ‘The Surface’, taken from their debut EP ‘Seas’ here:

On a mission to take their sound far and wide, NOW, VOYAGER kick off their campaign with an eight date tour with Bury Tomorrow throughout Scandinavia and then come to the UK to play Summer Jam in July. With many more tours and festival announcements in the pipeline, this is a new band that will be hard to miss this summer.

Dates:

02 May 2013 – Tou Scene - Stavanger, Norway
03 May 2013 – Garage – Bergen, Norway
04 May 2013 – Gamla – Oslo, Norway
07 May 2013 – Backstage – Aarhus, Denmark

13 July 2013 – Knee Deep Alldayer - Northampton, UK
20/21 July 2013 – Summer Jam – Manchester, UK

Upon forming in 2011 and the self-release of their ‘Seas’ EP, NOW, VOYAGER instantly stood out as something special in their local scene. Word rapidly spread throughout Belgium and suddenly the band found themselves opening up many big tours that passed through in 2012, including The Devil Wears Prada (US), Memphis May Fire (US) The Color Morale (US), Dream on Dreamer (Oz), Eyes Set to Kill (US), While She Sleeps (UK) Bury Tomorrow (UK), August Burns Red (US) and Veil of Maya(US). They were also chosen to play on the 2011 Groezrock line-up, which was an exceptional achievement for such a new band.

With new material written and a hunger to take things to the next level, the band travelled to the UK at the end of 2012 to record their new EP at Outhouse Studios, and also played a run of dates with Reading's Attention Thieves. They kicked of 2013 with a two week European tour supporting UK Alt-rock band Violet, and are ready to make this the year they make a huge impact on the rest of the world.

“Where We’ll Start” will be released on the 20 May; there will be a limited run of 50 physical copies and it will be available on itunes and other major digital outlets.

French progressive metallers Uneven Structure release breathtaking new video Frost/Hail

Thursday 18th April, 2013

French progressive metal explorers UNEVEN STRUCTURE have released a stunning new music video for the track FROST/HAIL, with a worldwide premiere on Metal Injection.

The video was created by guitarist Igor Omodei and is the second part in the video story series from their critically acclaimed progressive album, Februus.

Comments Igor: "Our first video, Awaken, was always meant to be followed by Frost/Hail and we wanted to finally release it before we completely immersed ourselves in writing and recording our second album. Awaken was about getting used to the characters and getting out of your comfort zone. Frost/Hail is about discovering what's out there, the rules and hazards defining your world/mind but also the limitless potential lying in taking the risk to confront and bend these. Production-wise, as for Awaken, our awesome friends from Qatlaq Films lent us their camera and extra studio gear then we went from there ourselves for the editing and post-production. We hope you like it."

The video comes ahead of the band re-releasing a newly recorded and reworked version of their 2009 EP, 8, which will be released as a special bundle option with album Februus.

Igor adds: "8, as a collective piece is something we love to play live but the way we do now is quite different from the 2009 EP. So we decided to release this altered version by going back to the drawing board, reworking it, taking advantage of the lineup consolidation and technical progress we've been through since the original was out. This is a thank you to our fans for being so supportive and believing in us, and we really hope they will enjoy what we’ve done with it. Whilst they enjoy this, we’re busy in our batcave, working on our second album. We want to get that exactly right as it’s a concept album, the technical aspect is more engaging than on Februus and we're leaving more room for experimentation which means our writing spectrum is broad as hell.”

The 8 EP and Februus album bundles will be released by Basick Records on June 3rd. The band are also releasing Februus on limited edition double disc vinyl in time for Record Store Day on April 20th. For more information visit Basick Records.
