TRACK AND FIELD announce debut album Natural Light & reveal new single 'Simple Life'
Track and Field - Promo 3 - credit to Graham Berry.jpg

Indie rock/emo quartet Track and Field have confirmed that they'll be releasing their debut album Natural Light on the 10th November through Beth Shalom Records.

In light of the announcement the band have released the video for 'Simple Life', the first taste of the new record.

Originally premiered via Upset, watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q__bJHWg8RE

See Track and Field live at one of the following shows:

04.11.2017 - Bolton, The Alma Inn
24.11.2017 - London, Birthdays

Track and Field are a band with a punk rock past, seemingly at odds with their melodic present. The indie emo four piece from Leeds, UK, features current and ex-members of The Plight and grindcore outfit The Afternoon Gentlemen – strange bedfellows for a band whose sound has been described by Glasswerk as having “hazy melodic vibes... not since Taking Back Sunday’s debut record have we heard emo that’s been this well executed.”

The hardcore scene was an essential proving ground for the band, allowing them to sharpen their skill-set to a knifepoint before they began to cut a path out of their comfort zone with Track and Field. Between them, frontman and guitarist Michael Grogan, guitarist Jonathan Kirk, bassist Daniel Comlay and drummer John Defenzi have played in over 100 cities across 15 countries, on more than 20 tours. As part of The PlightTrack and Field members have played Reading and Leeds and Download Festival, while The Afternoon Gentlemen have sold over 8,000 physical records worldwide. These are no rookies, and their experience shows in their work with Track and Field

In 2015, Track and Field self released their first EP You Are My Home. The EP’s single ‘World’ was played by Daniel P Carter on his BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, and off the back of it the band trended on both the AOL homepage and in the Huffington Post’s UK news section. The EP is cinematic and introspective, showing an emotional and musical maturity that the band have continued to on build ever since.

Their work may seem far removed from the DIY stages their punk and grind projects inhabit, but the principles are the same. Their indie rock is honest and hard-hitting, emotional and charged with adrenaline.

Californian alt-metallers Chrysalis are streaming their new music video for 'Atlas', taken from their charting album Reminder (out now).

First premiered via Metal Hammer, 'Atlas' is the genre-bending band at their finest. Shades of IncubusDeftones, and even Linkin Park, mark Chrysalis' new single as a group at the top of the game, following previous single 'Out of my Hands' which landed on Billboard’s Top 40 Mainstream Rock chart and led to a tour spot with NonpointNine Shrines and Hinder.

About Chrysalis:

The California-based band self-released their first full length album (titled simply Chrysalis) in 2006, while members of the band were still in high school. It became one of CDBaby.com's all-time best selling in its genre & landed them a stint on the Vans Warped Tour.

The band's second album, Focus On The Center, was critically acclaimed, receiving heavy rotation on US radio throughout the country, the third-most added album in its genre in the first week of availability.

Supported by fans via a successful crowdfunding campaign, Chrysalis toured the entire United States in 2014 and haven't stopped since, playing 250+ dates nationwide. In early 2016, the band headed into the studio with Grammy nominated producer Ulrich Wild (DeftonesPanteraIncubus) to begin work on new material. The resulting album titled Reminder was released January 13th, 2017.

Technical death metal veterans THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD return with new LP
TTEOTD_PRESS_lineup-1000x515-1503069919.jpg

Revered as one of the groups that pioneered modern aggressive technical death metal, Americans THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD triumphantly return with Disomus (13th October, SPV/Long Branch Records).

To celebrate the news, the band are streaming a new track from the album. Listen to 'Obitual' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCjzjxDVmwM

Disomus is the long anticipated follow up to their last LP, Skepsis, released in 2010. Disomus marks the second consecutive album with vocalist Danny Rodriguez and drummer Michael Ranne (a first in the group's impressive history) together with longtime bassist Jake Ososkie and founding guitarist and songwriting engine Justin LongshoreDisomus also doubles as the studio introduction of new guitarist Steven Funderburk (also of Wretched) and the return of original vocalist Anthony Gunnells and his successor, Nate Johnson, via strong guest appearances, bringing Through The Eyes Of The Dead full circle.

"Disomus" is the medical term describing an abnormal fetus with two bodies but one head. The album's subject matter includes the tale of a man buried alive by a cult ("Obitual"), a dark magician's creation of a malignant entity via sacrificial killing ("Haruspex"), underworld spirits doomed to roam the earth ("Dismal"), the Styx River of Greek myth ("Vortices in the Stygian Maelstrom"), the themes of the Alien/Prometheus film franchise ("Teras," alternately named for an abnormal fetus with two heads and one body), and the real life tragedy and horror discovered by Rodriguez, a Chicago police officer, when called upon to check on the well being of an elderly person who lived alone ("Till Solace, She'll Haunt").

'Hate the Living' is not only the name of the first track on Through The Eyes Of The Dead's first album in seven years, but part of a battle cry of sorts that has adorned the band's t-shirts for years. The second half of the phrase is 'Love the Dead.' Like the best of death metal's past, present, and future, Through The Eyes Of The Dead is the kind of band that makes living with death worth loving.

Basically, they understand us completely, and we like that."

Thumpermonkey announce Electricity EP and premiere single 'Tzizimime'
5D3_0981.jpg

London alt-rock quartet THUMPERMONKEY have unveiled new single 'Tzizimime' and announced the release of new EP Electricity via Rockosmos on 13 October.

Premiered on Prog mag, check out 'Tzizimime' here: http://vevo.ly/yjCduZ

Electricity offers delicate flavours of genre mastery in THUMPERMONKEY’s songwriting, be it King Crimson’s meticulousness, flamboyant cinematics circa Scott Walker or a dominant presence on the drum kit and guitars that parallels Queens of the Stone Age. Vocalist Michael Woodman channels a certain ambience akin to what you would imagine if David Bowie met Cardiacs.

The EP is inspired by the story of Victorian MP and visionary Lord James Badger, who, under divine instruction almost two hundred years ago, set out to conquer nature and “restore” the civilisations of Mesopotamia with the new power of Electricity.

THUMPERMONKEY have also announced an EP release show at the Black Heart in Camden on 6 October, get tickets here: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/406245

Electricity is the band’s 7th release and a full-length is expected in 2018.

Irish Progressive Sludge Metallers ZHORA Announce Forthcoming Tour
zhOra-colour-promo.jpg

Irish progressive sludge powerhouse zhOra have announced a forthcoming Irish tour in support of their new album Ethos, Pathos, Logos, which is released on October 27th. Check them out on one of the following dates:

October 20 - On The Rox, Dublin
October 21 - The Poor Relation, Cork

Vocalist Colin Bolger comments on the forthcoming release tour: "We live and breath gigging! The stage is our place of solace and our battlefield. In the chaos of playing such visceral music live we thrive and can truly be ourselves. These days we can't go running after people with swords and spears so we must instead fight with our hearts and minds. These upcoming launch shows for Ethos, Pathos, Logos will be our best live shows to date and we are honoured to share the stage with some of our closest friends in support. Éire...show me what you got!"

More about zhOra:

Over the span of six years zhOra have quickly become one of the most recognisable names in the burgeoning Irish metal scene. In this time the band has released one EP Feet Nailed to the Ground (2011) and their debut LP Almaz (2013), both releases garnering huge praise within the scene. Now in 2017, the band is set to undertake the next stage in their journey, Ethos, Pathos, Logos.

In the only predictable aspect of the band's sonic trajectory, Ethos, Pathos, Logos finds the band once again putting themselves under their own microscope and refining their approach. With a lush cover designed by acclaimed Visionary Artist Jake Kobrin, the record is zhOra's first back-to-back concept album, an hour long journey through past lives and cannibalism.

Having played shows the length and breadth of the country and toured extensively through the UK, Germany, France, Belgium and Holland, the band is fiercely committed to their craft and putting their name on everyone's radar.

No strangers to high profile slots, zhOra have supported and toured with bands such as The Ocean, Coilguns and Dictated among others. Earning a slot on the Headbanger Stage at Wacken Open Air 2016 was the culmination of this time together and the commitment to creating an unrelenting sonic fingerprint and fearsome stage show. Recently the band appeared at Bloodstock Open Air as winners of the Irish leg of the associated Metal to the Masses competition.

With plans to tour into 2018 in support of Ethos, Pathos, Logo, the band plans to kick those who would listen squarely in the throat, onto the path less travelled.
